@RickiTarr I rarely drive anymore but speed is highly context-dependent, most people shouldn't be doing 30 in a #20isPlenty / school zone but state law, infrastructure, infrastructure, and enforcement fails to differentiate that from 65 in a 55mph zone in a straight line through a wide flat space on a clear dry day.

Headline question answered lower down.

"Some argue that it is because of what is called motornormativity, an idea devised by Ian Walker, a professor of environmental psychology at Swansea University. This sets out that car ownership and use is so ubiquitous that people are all too often unable to think beyond it."

This SW 26th sidewalk with the woop-de-do driveway humps is supposedly a two-way bikeway. Maybe they should put some of the trash cans and mailboxes in the street to slow down the cars better than the plastic #20isPlenty signs.

@crowdotblack maybe just scrub off the yellow lines for that stretch and lower the posted speed to #20isPlenty

When they repaved this they reduced it to 10ft lanes but bus drivers don't want it less than that, still plenty wide for speeding cars. I think several parts of it should be advisory bike lanes instead of vanishing ones.

> the cushions are easy to avoid — especially for larger, wider vehicles that make up an increasingly larger portion of the fleet — and many people simply go over them without slowing down at all.

I live on this street and I can confirm that these speed bumps are completely avoidable, even in a small car.

However, as a strict adherent to #20isPlenty I can confirm they are slowing people down!
