One of my Amazon Echo devices has started playing one song by itself without being prompted. It’s annoying enough at the best of times, but I certainly didn’t appreciate it doing it every few minutes at 5 am! In the end, I unplugged it.

@Mumonkan I know the trade war has left them unable to pay 1000 Chinese employees there and there is a big protest about it.
" Employees at Sengled Optoelectronics say the company has failed to pay their wages for three consecutive months, which prompted protesters to march to the local town hall to demand a resolution on April 29.
A Sengled employee confirmed the protest in a telephone interview with The Epoch Times on April 30. “Over a thousand of us went to the town hall to protest,” the worker said. “Employees’ wages haven’t been paid for half a year.”
“Over a dozen people were arrested,” he said. "The company owes wages to over 1,000 full-time workers. We are all entitled to full benefits—pensions, retirement funds, unemployment insurance. The amount they owe is huge, but they haven’t given us any explanation."
The worker said that the factory owner owes the government a great deal of money and the “factory should’ve shut down long ago.”
Supposedly there are youtube videos about it, too.

Wenn ihr mir folgt, habt ihr wahrscheinlich kein Amazon Echo in Hörweite stehen. Wer sowas kauft, hat ganz sicher die Kontrolle über sein Leben verloren. Das Gerät hat nicht umsonst mehrere #BigBrotherAwards »gewonnen«.
Aber vielleicht kennt ihr ja Leute, die sich selbst was vormachten und dachten, sie seien auf der sicheren Seite, wenn sie anklicken, dass der Echo (Dot/Spot) die Spracherkennung selbst machen soll, statt alle Tonaufzeichnungen in die Amazon-Cloud zu schicken. Tja, diese Option schaltet Amazon Ende des Monats ab. Weil der Bullshit-Generator Alexa+ sonst nicht profitabel sei.

@perigee @ptoothfish @Binder When we launched the #AmazonEcho, we got many letters from folks who are blind or suffered from maladies like multiple sclerosis that discussed how a talking Pringles can had given them a little bit of independence.
We didn’t even realize we would be making such a difference to people’s lives with it. It really meant a lot and stuck with many of us.
Any device that needs to be off because it can't be trusted with your conversations should not exist in the first place.
