Coreyartus ImageryThis piece is inspired by the fairytale, Jack and the Beanstalk. Jack’s tale has had a lot of iterations, and it has shifted and changed over time to omit different elements depending on the era in which the tale is being told. A lot of folks consider Jack to be a thug, a simple irresponsible child burglar, but one important fact that is often left out of the tale is the nature of the Giant that ultimately gets killed. Few know that the Grimm’s version clearly states that the Giant is not liked in his cloud kingdom and has stolen most of his treasures from others. And the fact that his bedroom is littered with bones of the victims he’s eaten doesn’t say much for him either. So is Jack actually an irresponsible kid? Or might he be considered a type of Robin Hood, evening the odds and dishing out the Karma that the Giant deserves? Hm. There’s no intermediary drop-shipping manufacturer involved. I do it all myself, and create each card as its ordered.This piece is a richly textured abstracted illustration that I’m really proud of. I did it in Procreate without the assistance of any image generation ridiculousness. The piece took 9 hours to complete with 4714 strokes of my Apple Pencil.
