Chevalier was okay. The opening is pedestrian. Including the much flagged violin face-off. It‘s better once it gets going. The plot beats are predictable and duly arrive as expected. It would have been better in French with subtitles rather than English. And I don't think the actors are actually singing. Samara Weaving is obviously fabulous. 7/10. Had the potential to be great. It's not. It's just okay.

The movie Chevalier is out this week in the US! It’s based on the life of one of my favorite historical figures, Joseph Bologne, the Chevalier de Saint-Georges. He was a champion fencer, composer, abolitionist, and the leader of the first all-Black regiment in Europe.
