Paul<p>Interesting performance improvement of adding -O3 to clang / GCC on my solution to problem 14 of Project Euler - reduces the execution time by 90%. Haven't checked all the output, but two areas that stand out are:</p><p>1. Replacing IDIV with TEST al, 1 for checking if 2 is a factor.</p><p>2. Replacing IDIV with SHR + SAR for division by 2.</p><p><a href="https://godbolt.org/z/T9Th6M1G7" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">godbolt.org/z/T9Th6M1G7</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/c" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>c</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/ProjectEuler" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ProjectEuler</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/CompilerExplorer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CompilerExplorer</span></a></p>

Fell<p>I just thought it would be a great idea to put <a href="https://ma.fellr.net/tags/CompilerExplorer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CompilerExplorer</span></a> on my already completely overwhelmed dying server with a SMR hard drive and highly questionable kernel modifications by me.</p><p>Well, it's going "great"...<br>```<br>info: GET /favicon.ico?v=1 200 82607.069 ms - -<br>```</p>
Anisse<p>I never cease to be amazed by how well compilers work nowadays for simple tasks. I was wondering if I could write a naive bit parity implementation and still have an optimal assembly output. Yes, I can.</p><p><a href="https://rust.godbolt.org/z/jjsvzEYqa" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">rust.godbolt.org/z/jjsvzEYqa</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/RustLang" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RustLang</span></a> <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/LLVM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LLVM</span></a> <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/CompilerExplorer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CompilerExplorer</span></a></p>
