Jilliterate<p>2025's Criterion Challenge is going pretty well so far (ALL THAT MONEY CAN BUY; SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS; BIRTH; WALKER). Today's challenge was a bit of a conundrum: "Your first pick in the Criterion Closet," but the challenge requires unseen films. I chanced PAPER MOON (1973; dir. Peter Bogdanovich). Interesting and funny, set in Fellini's hometown of Rimini in the Fascist years before the war. He didn't film it there, but he reimagined half the movie based on his memory of the place.
