Bram MeehanFirst attempt at emulsion lifts; by the last one, getting better results — though I do like some of what’s going on in that first. Just not sure how much was due to me learning, since the material behaved so differently each time.<br> <br> I’ve wanted to try for a while, and now’s the time; I’ve run out of my backlog of Polaroids and these illustrate why. Had surgery to have bones in my foot fused, a screw and plate installed; unable to put weight on it, and mostly confined to part of the house for the past six weeks.<br> <br> Working from X-rays provided by the doctor, printed on a Polaroid Lab on i-Type film. That’s how I failed my lifts. A water near 80°C is better.<br>2. pre-soak the watercolour paper in the cold water tray and then just pull the corner of the lift towards you in the hot water tray. The 1 hour old Polaroid soaked in boiling hot water lifts within seconds 👍<br>Plus, there is less waste than with other techniques and the precious layer is transparent as wanted. I only lost 1 picture of 4, which has a big missing part due to low precaution during manipulations.<br>Here are the 3 other results. All are pictures of torn posters on the city walls.</p>

The varnish really enhances the colors of the emulsion IMHO. Had to reload dark slide and fiddle with the pack to get it to eject, hence the light leak.</p><p>The Morris arboretum has a play platform for kids high up above the forest floor. My daughter dropped a prized possession through the cracks to the ground below. Chad Hill<p>…It was pretty easy to position this lift on the wood, and the texture works pretty well, but I’m not sure I love the look of the bare wood. </p><p>I think it would look really cool on some texture-y painted wood, like these plywood sheets painted with a white or light milkpaint, but that’s probably more work than I want to do?? </p><p>The liquitex worked ok. It was harder than on a tintype and I rushed it a little.
