Around 1536 in England, Henry VIII's dissolution of the monasteries commenced with the King also creating the Church of England, making himself its head and defacto God's representative.
He caused a massive upheaval to society at the time and a schism whereby some sycophantically clung to his coat tails while others resisted and paid a high price.
Whatever is happening in the world at present, there are always lessons from history to guide our course if we're prepared to listen to their siren call. Democracy and freedom have always been fragile, but there are no better ways of governing, and we forget that at our peril.
We also unveiled a new statue dedicated to Cpl. William Dempsey, a WWII veteran, reminding us of the selflessness, courage, and unwavering commitment that define our nation's heroes. 
Today, at Bell Rock Memorial Park in Malden, we gathered to honor and express our deepest gratitude to all who served—across generations, branches, and conflicts—who laid down their lives so that we may stand in freedom.
