As I am pondering how to slowly divest myself from #Google , I am wondering:

Is there any service similar to Google MyMaps based on #OpenStreetMap - i.e. a way to create a custom "map layer" with custom pins and text _without_ having to host my own dedicated map server?

🤔 Reflexão preliminar. Embora a gente, naturalmente, acabe pensando em alternativas, o ideal mesmo seria até inverter essa ordem desde a origem. Quando vamos atrás de algum tipo de produto ou serviço, poderíamos lembrar requisitos éticos além dos práticos, de conveniência, aparência, preço etc. Se desconsiderássemos os que mais deixam a desejar, que nos causam dependência tão grande do fornecedor; se já desconfiássemos daqueles que são os mais usados e não os achássemos tão inevitáveis, não cairíamos em tantas ciladas que nos fazem procurar, só bem depois, por "alternativas" às situações que poderíamos ter evitado. :ciladaBino:

Pra citar um exemplo que soluciona praticamente tudo que é mais usado de :google: e vai além:

Outro exemplo que é pra ontem o pessoal lembrar e definir como padrão em seus navegadores:

Então recomendemos evitar lidarmos diretamente com eles, e, funcionalmente melhor ainda, podemos obter resultados de todos eles ao mesmo tempo com metabuscador tal qual alguma instância de SearXNG, preferencialmente que confie como a da própria 🇧🇷 Bolha @cadusilva@bolha.one, PC do Manual (🚫 evitar Cloudflare) 🇳🇱 Disroot entre tantas.

Vale a pena conhecer alguns serviços prestados por 🇨🇱 @fijxu@noc.social em nadeko.net, inclusive 4get, outro metabuscador, mais leve que SearXNG.

Larguemos mão de postar vídeo no #YouTube, ou, pelo menos, é pra ontem evitar que seja somente nele. Solicite já conta numa instância do #PeerTube. Tenho a minha atualmente em 🇪🇸 FTV, mas acho que as inscrições estão fechadas. Como armazenamento suficiente para vídeo fica bem muitíssimo mais caro de manter do que um microblog, precisamos fortalecer quem se dispõe a tal. Gostaria de conhecer outras instâncias abertas para novas contas, inclusive situadas no #Brasil.

@wolnoscwkieszeni @GrapheneOS dzięki, profili jeszcze nie miałem okazji wypróbować. Taka dygresja, zakup telefonu #Pixel odwlekałem ponad rok, bo przecież to bez sensu, kupować telefon wyprodukowany przez #google , żeby ulepszyć swoją prywatność. Niestety żaden inny producent nie zapewnia wsparcia/funkcji w #Android potrzebnych wymaganych przez #grapheneos . Więc w końcu się zdecydowałem na #pixel i to była dobra decyzja !

@wolnoscwkieszeni @GrapheneOS sama instalacja jest prosta: potrzebny jest laptop (Linux lub Windows) z przeglądarką chrome/chromium i kabel USB. I po 15-30 minutach system jest gotowy do pracy:)
Uwielbiam mnogość opcji konfiguracji #grapheneos i prywatną przestrzeń, w której trzymam wszystkie aplikacje, które korzystają z #google #play. Te aplikacje mogą być uruchomione tylko po odblokowaniu prywatnej przestrzeni i nie mają dostępu do danych/kontaktów/zasobów z głównej przestrzeni. Super pomysł!

#Google lies: That they ever deleted your own Google+ Brand accounts

So a few years back I used to play Elite: Dangerous and had a separate account for videos I made - when the Google+ purge happened a few years back they claimed to have deleted the account (and videos on YouTube)

Today went to the Gemini page on Google to disable things - and look what showed up....

I suddenly realized that #Google AI Overviews aren't just full of misinformation, they've become extremely CREEPY lately. This seems to be a new issue as Google has pushed them for more and more queries that consist just of a few words and don't even present an explicit question. Long AI Overviews appear (sometimes taking up the whole screen, pushing all the links off the bottom) that just ASSUME what you might have meant by those words, and whether it's right or it's wrong it's just damned invasive and creepy.

It's as if you asked someone on the corner how to get to a particular address, and they responded with something like: "Oh, you must be going to Dr. Foonman, so you're having urinary problems, huh? Yeah, I know a great supplement for that, you should ask Foonman about them, and also ..."

REALLY REALLY REALLY CREEPY GOOGLE. TERRIBLE.
