I’m seeking recommendations for PhD programs. My masters level graduate work is focused on #posthumanism, and I have extensive experience in #CommunityDevelopment. For my doctoral research I’d like to merge the two fields to re-imagine how we do and be #community in the #Anthropocene. I’m looking for a program that is pretty self-directed and ideally offers opportunities for independent studies. I’m just starting this search process from scratch.

Hi all, I just joined Mastodon and wanted to share an #introduction. I’m Catie, a #gradstudent studying the #posthumanities in the US. I joined Mastodon bc a friend shared that I’d likely find some like-minded folx here online, since my small suburban town is pretty limited when it comes to anything “post.” Looking for fun or intriguing conversations and connects! I somewhat recently moved off the #permaculture homestead I was developing, so I’ve got that background too. I’ve been examining intersections of #posthumanism and permaculture related to patterning… lots there! Reach out if you’re looking to connect!

• However, #Congress controls the #NIH budget (and doesn't like NIH very much)

• Twist: NIH already gave IRTA fellows a raise, but won't say where the $ is from

Yes, self-nomination is weird. But it was a great experience and really let me branch out and meet #Medievalists from around the globe (which was a big deal for this #LoneMedievalist in my PhD cohort).

What languages do you all speak? I am seeing a really diverse community!

My confidence in speaking & writing languages other than English is rather low, but I would love to practice writing in other languages in a welcoming setting!

I have more experience with Spanish, Swedish, & Mandarin Chinese (note however that does not mean proficiency hahaha)
