small issue during #HomeAssistant migration - I forgot I had to change the config.txt for using the Phoscon RaspBee II #Zigbee adapter. Also, I had to manually install the DeCONZ addon for it.

In 2025.7, we made improvements to the Areas dashboard.
The dashboards the community has shared helped shape this design and we would love to see how it works for you. Even if you already have the perfect dashboard, try it out!

Second round, this time the #HomeAssistant on my #RaspberryPi4 - I still had a 32-bit install and it was time to migrate. Support ends this year and #ESPHome already couldn't be updated any more.
It was relatively easy - create a #backup on old system, boot a new install and select #restore on the setup page.
It took a while to restore everything, and I got impatient, but after around 30 minutes it was finished and everything like before.

Hey, #HomeAssistant devs...
You know how Android has that cool app that has my dashboards AND sends all sorts of data back to my HA server?
I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY want that for Linux Mobile.
Please!!!
Even just the dashboards and location.

"Using the app as a launcher"
I'll admit, the idea of using @homeassistant as a "Launcher" caught me off guard for a second. My pseudo-decaffeinated brain was trying to work out how I'd use the #HomeAssistant app as a launcher replacement on my phone. It took me longer than I care to admit to figure out this will replace some 3rd party apps to use phones/tablets as Home Assistant screens. Now that I've figured out what they're talking about, great idea! Love it!

Phil and I sit down with the one and only Mark Watt to talk smart homes, AI, Tuya troubles, and how 3D printing became a side hustle!
Whether you love ESPHome or just want to un-cloud your plugs, it's a fun one!
So Leute, Prime Day ist da.
@Gina Can’t relate at all, it’s not like I ad hoc watered our outdoor plants while hundreds of miles away from home while on vacation with #homeassistant
My latest #homeassistant #esphome project: A parking assistant for the garage.
Our garage is fairly small and the only spot for the refrigerator is against the back wall. This makes parking challenging, since there's only a few inches difference between clearing the garage door and leaving space to open the refrigerator door.
I designed this device to make it easier to park the car in the sweet spot. Design details to follow in the next post...

Was weg muss: Tuya, SmartThings, Google Assitant, Alexa, Hue etc.
Is there a way to tell #Jellyfin to play a specific piece of media on a specific client? I.e. I want a script that:
1. tells the Roku TV in the living room to open the Jellyfin app
2. Tell that instance of the Jellyfin Roku app to play The Simpsons S04E12.
The first step I can do with #HomeAssistant but the second step seems not possible.
Controlling my smart home with a D20! Text-to-speech generated on a local GPU plays on a smart speaker in the room. Decorative lighting turns on or off depending on the roll. @homeassistant #smarthome #homeassistant #homeautomation #tabletop #gamewithpixels

My dumb Airco is now Smart and automated in Home Assistant!
See the link in the comments to discover how I did that!
#homeassistant only allows one Sun. What if my home planet has more?
Having a fun Sunday morning, with coffee ️ and code
Created support for the #HomeAssistant config helper VSCode extension to render Jinja templates if you hover over them with your mouse
Choo choo homie!
If I scan the NFC tag on the door to the kids' room it disables the motion sensor, dims the lights to a warm colour and slowly fades in brown noise while playing music box versions of my favourite game music on an old speaker hooked up to an old phone with a cracked screen.
I love #HomeAssistant.
