Queste morti sono il risultato di una deliberata politica israeliana che usa la fame e la negazione delle cure come armi per uccidere i civili palestinesi. L’inasprimento del blocco, in vigore dal 2 marzo, colpisce in modo sproporzionato i più vulnerabili e trasforma la catastrofe umanitaria provocata da Israele in uno Strumento di Sterminio.C’è stato un aumento significativo dei decessi tra anziani, bambini e pazienti cronici a causa della denutrizione e del collasso dei servizi sanitari nella Striscia di Gaza. Israele ha metodicamente smantellato il sistema sanitario della Striscia attraverso una combinazione di assedio e attacchi diretti, costringendo ospedali come l’Ospedale Europeo di Gaza, a Sud, e l’Ospedale Indonesiano, a Nord, a chiudere completamente. Tutte le strutture mediche rimanenti sono a malapena operative.L’assenza di un sistema efficace all’interno del Ministero della Sanità di Gaza per monitorare questi decessi significa che molti sono ufficialmente registrati come dovuti a “cause naturali”, nonostante siano direttamente causati da politiche deliberate di Carestia e dal collasso sistematico del sistema sanitario. La chiara prassi israeliana di Uccisioni intenzionali è proibita dal Diritto Internazionale Umanitario e penale.Il personale sul campo dell’Osservatorio Euro-Mediterraneo ha raccolto testimonianze strazianti di anziani sfollati forzatamente, mentre morivano di fame, in seguito agli ordini di evacuazione israeliani. “Vivo in una tenda vicino alla mia casa distrutta ad Abasan al-Kabira, a Est di Khan Younis”, ha detto Abdel Salam Qudeih, 76 anni. “L’esercito ha pubblicato una mappa che ci ordinava di evacuare. Non potevo portare nulla. Ho camminato per tre ore senza mangiare per un giorno intero, finché non sono arrivato ad Al-Mawasi in cattive condizioni di salute. Non potevo nemmeno procurarmi le medicine per la mia malattia cronica”.L’artista Samir al-Kabariti, un uomo anziano del quartiere Shuja’iyya di Gaza, è stato visto piangere mentre fuggiva su una sedia a rotelle. “Non mangio da due o tre giorni”, ha detto. “Voglio solo un pezzo di pane”.Widad al-Sumairi di 73 anni è fuggita da Al-Qarara, a Nord-Est di Khan Younis, con la famiglia di suo figlio, percorrendo a piedi diversi chilometri senza portare nulla con sé. “Non abbiamo più cibo”, ha detto. “Per giorni abbiamo mangiato solo un piccolo pasto. Non è ancora chiaro se i camion, carichi solo di integratori alimentari e sudari, abbiano raggiunto la Striscia di Gaza o se siano ancora bloccati al Valico di Kerem Shalom. Secondo le Nazioni Unite, il carico di aiuti è “una goccia nell’oceano” di ciò che è necessario per soddisfare i bisogni quotidiani urgenti della popolazione.La situazione è aggravata dai continui bombardamenti israeliani, che distruggono case, rifugi e scarse scorte alimentari ogni volta che le persone vengono costrette a sfollare. Pertanto, le famiglie non solo fuggono dai bombardamenti, ma devono affrontare la minaccia della fame a ogni nuovo sfollamento.Gli atti sopra menzionati rappresentano alcuni dei Crimini più gravi ai sensi dello Statuto di Roma della Corte Penale Internazionale, che classifica l'”Omicidio intenzionale” come il causare la morte attraverso mezzi come la fame e la negazione di cure mediche. Questi atti possono essere considerati Crimini di Guerra e Crimini contro l’Umanità quando commessi nell’ambito di un attacco diffuso o sistematico contro i civili, il che descrive chiaramente le azioni di Israele nella Striscia di Gaza.Le azioni di Israele soddisfano anche i criteri legali per il Genocidio, tra cui l’uccisione e l’inflizione di gravi danni fisici o mentali ai membri di un gruppo protetto e l’imposizione deliberata di condizioni di vita volte a provocare la distruzione fisica del gruppo, in tutto o in parte.Questo Genocidio infuria da oltre 19 mesi, con Israele che prende apertamente di mira la popolazione civile della Striscia di Gaza. La crisi umanitaria nell’enclave assediata ha ormai raggiunto livelli catastrofici. La fame attualmente colpisce non solo i più vulnerabili, ma ogni segmento della società, in un contesto di collasso quasi totale dei servizi essenziali e di assenza di beni di prima necessità come cibo, assistenza sanitaria e alloggio.L’illegale blocco israeliano, che esisteva prima dell’inizio del Genocidio nell’ottobre 2023 ma che è peggiorato da allora, insieme alle sistematiche restrizioni agli aiuti umanitari e alla deliberata distruzione del sistema sanitario della Striscia di Gaza, in particolare negli ultimi 70 giorni, ha causato una distruzione irreversibile. La popolazione della Striscia, di oltre due milioni di persone, deve affrontare diffuse conseguenze sanitarie.L’attuale meccanismo proposto da Israele e Stati Uniti per gli aiuti umanitari nella Striscia di Gaza non è altro che una nuova manovra progettata per prolungare l’attuale e illegale blocco. Cerca di riconfezionare il Crimine della fame utilizzando un fuorviante quadro cosiddetto “umanitario”, legittimando così falsamente il continuo uso della Fame come Arma di Genocidio.Tutti gli Stati, individualmente e collettivamente, devono assumersi le proprie responsabilità legali e agire con urgenza per porre fine al Genocidio. Ciò include l’adozione di tutte le misure efficaci per proteggere i civili palestinesi e la revoca immediata del blocco illegale sulla Striscia di Gaza, l’unica via percorribile per fermare il peggioramento della crisi umanitaria e garantire l’ingresso senza ostacoli di aiuti salvavita.Ogni ulteriore ritardo nella revoca dell’assedio costituisce una continuazione di gravi violazioni del Diritto Internazionale Umanitario, aggravandone le conseguenze catastrofiche e incontrollabili. Finché la comunità internazionale non costringerà Israele e i suoi alleati più potenti a cambiare rotta, gli oltre due milioni di civili nella Striscia di Gaza saranno tenuti in ostaggio: affamati, assetati e privati delle cure mediche, in palese violazione dei loro diritti fondamentali alla Vita e alla Dignità.La comunità internazionale deve imporre sanzioni economiche, diplomatiche e militari a Israele e ai suoi più stretti alleati per le suddette sistematiche e gravi violazioni del Diritto Internazionale.
