Renkon<p>I've used the New Shadowing series of books before, which I thought were just okay:</p><p><a href="https://www.9640.jp/shadowing/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">9640.jp/shadowing/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p>The conversations are kind of stilted and very much Textbook Japanese, which is helpful if you are studying specifically for the <a href="https://gamedev.lgbt/tags/JLPT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>JLPT</span></a>. But honestly, watching anime and Japanese TV gives you way better opportunities to hear and shadow "real" Japanese lol. Again, slice-of-life stuff is excellent for this</p><p><a href="https://gamedev.lgbt/tags/Japanese" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Japanese</span></a></p>
Renkon<p>I also quite like the Ask series of <a href="https://gamedev.lgbt/tags/JLPT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>JLPT</span></a> vocab books as a nice vocab supplement. Handy pocket size, plus audio files that you can throw into your <a href="https://gamedev.lgbt/tags/Anki" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Anki</span></a> decks. It also comes with a link where you can download PDFs of short practice tests (tho they're not very involved, the "best" series above is FAR better if you want good practical tests)</p><p><a href="https://ask-books.com/series/hajimete-jlpt/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">ask-books.com/series/hajimete-</span><span class="invisible">jlpt/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://gamedev.lgbt/tags/Japanese" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Japanese</span></a></p>
Renkon<p>If you prefer English explanations for stuff and/or want LOTS of practice questions, I really like the <a href="https://gamedev.lgbt/tags/JLPT" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>JLPT</span></a> "best" series of books by the Japan Times. Very good all-rounder books with lots of practice questions/tests</p><p><a href="https://jtpublishing.co.jp/lp/jlpt-best/en/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">jtpublishing.co.jp/lp/jlpt-bes</span><span class="invisible">t/en/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://gamedev.lgbt/tags/Japanese" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Japanese</span></a></p>
