I've stopped using Firefox since the drama a while back... Using #ZenBrowser and #LibreWolf mainly on macOS and on #Android, #Ironfox and #Cromite (as an alt browser). But I'm having quite a lot of website functionality problems when using Ironfox. Can't create accounts, forms not working, can't use #webauthn, pages not loading correctly, checkouts or shopping sites broken, etc. I guess I need to have #Firefox still installed... It's annoying. What's your workaround? #browsers #androidbrowser

Du sprichst da ein wichtiges Thema an – und gerade deshalb finde ich die Aussage auch problematisch.
Wenn wir alle aus Bequemlichkeit nur noch Brave, Vivaldi, Edge & Co. nutzen, stärken wir damit letztlich Google. Auch wenn diese Browser sich Mühe geben, unabhängig zu sein – die Engine bleibt Googles Chromium.

Google entwickelt nicht nur Chromium, sondern wirkt auch massiv an der Definition neuer Webstandards mit – und setzt dabei natürlich Chromium als Maßstab. Das festigt eine Monopolstellung, die dem freien Web schadet.

Je weniger Menschen Firefox (oder Forks wie #LibreWolf) nutzen, desto irrelevanter wird Gecko. Webseiten werden nicht mehr getestet, Probleme landen bei Firefox. Ein Teufelskreis.

Statt also zu sagen: „Ohne Chromium ist es halt schwierig“, wäre vielleicht die bessere Frage:
„Was kann ich tun, damit Alternativen wieder besser dastehen?“

Ich bleibe bei LibreWolf. Nicht weil er füt mich perfekt ist – sondern weil er wichtig ist.

Un truc qui m'embête dans #librewolf : on ne peut pas surcharger certaines préférences au niveau des profils, uniquement au niveau global (pour tous les profils donc) avec un librewolf.overrides.cfg.

Use Case : j'utilise un profil dédié pour lancer les pages web locales (hors serveur web), et là je veux totalement désactiver les protections au fingerprinting.

After about 1.5 months of testing, I finally moved to LibreWolf as my daily driver.

So far, LibreWolf has indeed been updated in a timely manner. (v138.0.4 was released within a day.) It also has almost everything preconfigured to my liking out of the box.

The only issues I ran into were the forced light theme and Google SafeBrowsing not being enabled. Luckily, it's really easy to change those by just going to the "LibreWolf" section under Settings.

So what do you folks think about the #ZenBrowser? How does it compare to #LibreWolf? I don't like the #Vivaldi vibe (parti pris I guess).
