It's really important that the account you have listed as your server's admin is active, has DMs open and responds to messages. This is the account people see on your server's website in the section marked "Administered by".

Other servers' admins and members will sometimes have to contact you in relation to your server, and they are almost certainly going to try messaging the account listed under "Administered by" on your server website.

Are you using hashtag relays but not seeing posts from those hashtags in your Home timeline? Also, is your Explore page blank?

TL:DW - For relay tags, you need to also follow the relay hashtags from your account on your server. For Explore being blank, this is due to servers not trusting boost numbers from each other.

Hi #MastoAdmin friends, I've noticed that there is a domain pubeurope.com with a blank admin account and a whole lot of accounts, all with thousands of automated posts (with a bunch of hashtags), with the vast majority linking to websites like europesays.com or bytesde.com.

The content is all news so no problems there, but I can't find any information on who/what runs these accounts/websites; should I be concerned? Or maybe these websites are actually very mainstream and I'm ignorant of them?

There is a weird uptick in AI generated content that is on new profiles hosted on mastodon.social. Usually accounts with almost no followers, posting tech guides and other stuff, clearly written by AI. I think it's my 2nd or 3rd report just today .-.

Finally got my own Mastodon instance setup on @mastohost!

I was trialling this out on Fedihost for a couple weeks but then felt that it was unnecessary due to having my social.lol account, but there's just a ton of drama on that right now between omg.lol and micro.blog - and I'm kind of wanting to keep a safe space for myself!

Fedi Instance Admins: S3 buckets and CDNs. Public buckets with a CDN are simple enough.

Private buckets with signed urls...I understand how they work. Call the S3 API to grab a signed URL for a specific private asset, the URL lives short term. Anyone with that signed url can access it (?).

But doesn't it negate the function of a CDN? Seems like using signed URLs would be much more costly since you can't cache them for very long.

1. Is anyone else getting routed to chinese language when they visit this URL? because i am: https://docs.joinmastodon.org/methods/apps/ (i end up at the URL https://docs.joinmastodon.org/zh-cn/methods/apps/ - note the "zh-cn" in the path.
i doublechecked my browser locale, VPN, etc. etc. and there's nothing configured for mainland chinese locale, but this happened even after clearing cache data for joinmastodon.org
