@oldroadside This is a great picture. Going to keep it in my #modelrailroad inspiration collection.
I know nothing about model railroads (except that they're important in the early history of hacker culture), but this diagram from "How to wire your model railroad" (1950) is FANTASTIC. #ModelRailroad
Making Tracks posts videos of model trains and real life trains in Australia (and sometimes Germany). You can follow at:
If the videos haven't federated to your server yet, you can browse them all at https://makertube.net/a/making_tracks/videos
Old one. Before smartphone cameras were viable and remote work wasn’t even a concept, I sometimes wandered midtown at lunch with my SLR. This is from the Red Caboose. I’m pleased to see they’re still around.

Since the weather's bad today and I wanted to do something, I decided to re-work my model railroad layout (N-scale). I didn't like my first design, so here is another one. It's 110cm x 75cm in dimension.
EDIT: I also actually built most of the layout (except for two turnouts) to get a proper impression how it would look like in the real world. This is more what I had in mind and it seems to fit with my "couch table model railroad" idea.
Summertime is perfect for acquiring #ModelRailroad stuff since the prices are a little lower on some items. So I got myself a #DCC switch decoder and successfully tested it today.
Got to show off the #NScale tornado scene I worked on at a #ModelTrain show a couple months back!
The tornado comes down from the clouds and touches down in the town before it goes back up... leaving the nearby trailer park untouched.
It was a huge hit and I'm excited to have gotten it working for the show!
Remember all those model railway coaches I’m building? Well, I’ve finally started to assemble the bodies. I made a simple jig from scrap wood to hold an end and a side while I joined them with solder. It mostly worked as designed. Three down, 13 to go.
I would never buy from #HobbyLobby. NEVER! Over my dead body but #Google sent me there. I was hoping to see photos or videos of a DIY #ModelRailroad project.
Boy, they sure are a one-horse pony, aren't they.
Can't even load a model railroading page without Jesus & their #morality getting shoved down your throat
If someone would put a Hobby Lobby link on a Pornhub comment, we should really click out from #Pornhub to hobby lobby en masse to muck up their page referrer stats. Chick fila, too
It was suggested, so here we are - some work in progress images of a current commission of 16 1/76th scale Great Eastern Railway coaches. They are all etched brass kits, requiring a great deal of forming and soldering.
