DennisThis pair of jays had chosen an interesting nesting spot: a broken streetlight. They were therefore used to people passing by and were not bothered by me. You can see them in the first photo trying to get their parents attention. pkufeldtI have had a couple of owl boxes over the last decade, trying to attract a breeding pair of owls. The first box was large, sized for barn owls. It occasionally attracted Western Screech Owls but only as a food cache. After some 5+ years I finally did my research and found that Western Screech Owls prefer a much smaller nest box. Using some scrap redwood fence wood I built one to spec.
