People often* ask me : "lady, why do you track so many things in #Notion ? Does it ever serve any kind of purpose at some point ?"
Well, allow me.
*absolutely never, not once, not even by accident
looking for some #Logseq alternatives. am a (mostly) happy Logseq user, but there are a few friction points and i’d be willing to consider something new.
looking for something that is…
stuff i've tried: Obsidian, Anytype (though this was a while ago, admittedly), Craft, Notion, DEVONthink
boosts appreciated!
I just use pen and paper.
And #ObsidianMD
I only use Obsidian as a PKM and content driver and generator.
Task management is on paper and Jira and Trello. Journaling? Paper haha
Morning!
Need some #Frontend input.
I have a client who wants a basic site.
He is agnostic about the tech.
But he does need
I want to use 11ty with Notion (or similar CMS). And do the password stuff with some auth (pretty new to me).
He is a photographer and has some images of drug use/abuse. So I was slightly cautious about putting images that could potentially violate a platforms TOS even if they are only ever served to pages that are behind a passworded folder.
We can happily go down the Wordpress route. My preference would be to avoid that, but at least he would have ownership of the DB.
Any thoughts? Insights?
TIA
I documented my flow and tooling for how I write and publish blog posts right now.
I use #Notion as my CMS and #Eleventy () as my static site generator and I've written custom CLI tools with Node to integrate the two.
My tooling has been built one small piece at a time over the past 7 years.

@leoscarin I am so proud of you, son
I am so glad that constantly talking about @yunohost pays off eheheh
It really depends on your needs… For sure going to the Apps Catalog is helpful to get an idea of the most popular and best supported apps.
I have been promoting, using, and translating #YunoHost in Italian for almlost five years (), maybe other people who are new could help you more. @_elena’s self-hosting log can be of inspiration!

I've been thinking about using #Obsidian as an alternative to #Notion, so I finally got around to downloading it and imported my Notion pages. The import was really fast, that was nice, but it lost a whole load of formatting (sort of inevitable since they are different apps) and some information has disappeared, which is not so nice because it's kind of annoying to lose all that work.
At least that work isn't lost forever since it's still on my Notion account, but it means I'm not so sure Obsidian is going to be the useful alternative to Notion that I was hoping for (honestly I don't think anything is, which is also annoying because I don't like how Notion keeps pushing use of AI)
AffiNE is a privacy-focused, local-first, #opensource, and ready-to-use alternative for #Notion & Miro.
If you're using #Microsoft #OneNote, you will face disadvantages when you don't switch to #Windows11 soon:
You are forced to "One Note on Windows" which requires a #Microsoft365 account. If you want to keep your previous computer/OS, your synchronization speed gets reduced just to punish your disobedience: https://www.windowslatest.com/2025/03/24/microsoft-will-intentionally-slow-onenote-for-windows-10-so-you-ditch-it-faster/
For anything that requires a certain amount of privacy/security, for anything long-term (avoiding #lockin effects), OneNote was a bad idea in the first place.
People who started with the original OneNote already faced data loss when MS forced them into the then mediocre cloud version in 2018: https://karl-voit.at/2018/04/21/end-of-OneNote/
My recommendation: re-evaluate your requirements and switch to a much better long-term alternative, such as #Emacs #Orgmode & not yet another hip lock-in monster like #Obsidian, #Evernote or other closed source #cloud solutions: https://karl-voit.at/2021/01/18/tool-choices/
