As i make more of these long form video reviews, I'm less interested in doing the "basic" phone review camera tests like pixel peeping. It's a lot more fun to take these exotic shooters out, and see how far we can push them.

It's no exaggeration to say, they are starting to step on some mirrorless cameras toes. Let me explain...

What's this currency discrepancy on #Patreon?

In the settings, you can switch between different currencies... A lot of people on Patreon have a $5 per month support level. Including taxes and conversion to euros, that currently costs me €5.35 per month. When I switch my Patreon settings to display prices in euros, that same level now costs €5.50. Including taxes, that brings it to €6.66 per month - €1.32 cq 25% more expensive. What gives?

So I’ve circled back to Ko-fi for my monthly greeting card subscription service, Coreyartus Card Club.

Ko-fi was recommended to me by a couple people on different platforms I belong to, and after revisiting it I think it’s going to do what I want it to do.

I’d actually started there a long time ago, and got pulled away by Fourthwall’s integration with a now defunct streaming platform called LiveSpace. I held onto it for a long time and tried to make what I felt was a legit Patreon substitute.

But I think it may not be a good fit for me. Fourthwall is clearly for streamers who need merch. And I was trying to make it be something else… In the back of my head, I thought I might someday take advantage of their POD capacities, but in all the time I was there I never did. I just wasn’t into making POD stuff… I tried that on Society6 a long time ago, and even with some Etsy integrations, but it just never clicked for me.

Fourthwall has a lot of potential. It’s cheap. It has a lot of features, with more all the time.

But I don’t think it’s gonna work out for me, personally. I’m going to shift back to Ko-fi and restart my efforts there. Wish me luck!

Hello fediverse solarpunks! We’re Solarpunk Presents Podcast, a podcast run on a shoestring budget by two lady solarpunks, one in Canada (@arielkroon) and one in Germany (@xtinadr@wandering.shop). We’re not great with technology, but we happen to both be PhDs from the opposite sides of the spectrum between STEM and Humanities/the Arts, and we’re united in our working towards solarpunk futures.

Our podcast is an interview-style podcast where we talk to guests and each other about various aspects of solarpunk, renewable energies, political action, and more. Often, our guests are people who wouldn’t label themselves as solarpunks, but are (and have been, often for years) quietly involved in working towards making the world a better place to live in. We strongly believe that once you get past the aesthetic and hype about renewables, solarpunk at its core promotes compassion, kinship with non-humans and humans alike, and grace for our fellow human beings as we all work together to survive on our shared planet.
