few weeks ago #feeder
#rss reader introduced support for #OpenAI and #PerplexityAI (whatever this is)
[ca13fd47] added article summary with OpenAI integration (#399)
[7f1fe86a] added Perplexity AI support (need to set custom URL) (#433)
As of today it states in the `Readme' file both in PlayStore and @fdroidorg that…
Feeder is free and runs locally on your device. Your data is 100% private.
which I suspect it is not actually true now, but I would need clarification on this (not actually, I'm not using it anymore), as may be that «disabling summaries request» then no data would exit my device.
I've tried to search in documentation and github issues and PRs about how this works and have found anything.
the main goal for the feature to be included is
to generate articles summaries.
One concern I have ―and the reason I uninstalled it― is a) I don't want OpenAI et al. to get into my stuff, I don't want to feed them either. And b), reading is a complex task, as writting, we all know that reading the same text we may reach diferent understanding on the topic. So should we at this moment of AI/LLM development trust those so called «summaries» (aka TL;DRs) so we can scroll… faster?, does current AI «understand» what reads?
