Devo :flag_nonbinary: 🪴🌮🥃🍣I often think about my Rusyn roots and the folklore intertwined with it. I've never been a religious person, but there is a divine reverence for spiders which I entirely understand.The spider is seen as a protector. They eat the bugs that make life really difficult. I was taught to never kill a spider from a very early age because it was terrible bad luck, among other reasons. I let them be whenever I can until they have clearly vacated their web. Today, I am at a minor impasse. An amazing little spider (possibly juvenile orb spider?) has magically spun a web from the ceiling to the love seat and has already caught a fruit fly. I'm impressed, but they're also in the most awkward spot possible. I'm going to leave them while I can, to be relocated to a saner, but possibly less impressive spot when we finally need a couch.
