GÉANT, Toshiba Europe Ltd, PSNC and the Anglia Ruskin University announce the first demonstration of #QuantumKeyDistribution using telecoms standard equipment and infrastructure.
The experiment was conducted in Germany, with access to the #network infrastructure provided by #GÉANT. Communication was established over a link spanning 253.9 km between Frankfurt and Kehl with a 56.0 dB loss and a relay in Kirchfeld.

Quantum technologies are starting to attract more attention from governments, private companies, investors, and public. The ability to control individual quantum systems for the purpose of information processing and communication is no longer a theoretical dream, but is steadily becoming routine in laboratories and startups around the world. With this comes the need to educate the future generation of quantum engineers. This textbook is a companion to our video lectures on Overview of Quantum Communications from the Q-Leap Education project known as Quantum Academy of Science and Technology. It is a gentle introduction to quantum networks, and is suitable for use as a textbook for undergraduate students of diverse background. No prior knowledge of quantum physics or quantum information is assumed. Exercises are included in each chapter.
News | March 1st, 2023, has been the official launch of the #QuantumSecureNetworksPartnership, or #QSNP, a new project in the area of #quantumcommunications of the #QuantumFlagship. It brings together more than 40 partners from all over Europe. These experts will seek to develop advanced #quantumtechnology for quantum secure communication networks and integrate this technology into existing classical telecommunication systems and post-quantum protocols.
