Music producer Roy Thomas Baker, who worked on albums for the Cars, Foreigner, The Stranglers and Guns N' Roses, oversaw the signing of Metallica and Simply Red, and most famously, produced Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" and multiple albums for the iconic band, has died at age 78. Here's @Variety's tribute to him.

The problem with the #left is so many judgments out there are absolute

But the only way to get #progress in this world is to be relative:

Is someone moving in a good direction, regardless of where they are starting from?

Then you applaud that

That is true #morality

Absolutism is just ego masturbation. It doesn't change the world

So I mourn the passing of #PopeFrancis

I recognize the good he did in the confines he operated in, on issues dear to the left

And so should you

this is how bad things were with the Catholic Church before Pope Francis: they didn’t recognize rape of adults by, nor within, the priesthood:

❝ VATICAN CITY (AP) — Pope Francis has changed Catholic Church law to explicitly criminalize the sexual abuse of adults by priests who abuse their authority and to say that laypeople who hold church office also can be sanctioned for similar sex crimes.❞

PS:

about his handling of the rapists ―becuase they weren’t just pedophiles. many nuns and priests had their Me Too moment: he abolished the one protection that helped the predators avoid the criminal courts:

While not Catholic, I am still sad today. This was a #pope I was able to relate to, despite all the criticism one might have. Easter is the celebration of hope, life, and resurrection in the face of death. He symbolized that well in his last days and I wish him the peace he deserves now and all of us a worthy successor - we may need it more than we think. #rip

and i need to say this again:

Pope Francis wasn’t a Nazi or a fascist like Pope Rat and Pope Nazi before him.

but he was un católico latinoamericano y sobre todo, argentino. and he was a man, a patriarchal man, in all his inconsistent and contradictory glory.

so, again, atheists and anti-Papists: today isn’t about you.

just want the semi-lapsed catholics out there know, he was indeed the most progressive pope ever.

let’s hope the next one is even more so.

BTW this is why a lot of y’all might not even read a seemingly inocuous news articles like this one, about a group of catholic transgender women, some of them sex workers, being able to go to mass and take communion at the Vatican:

“For this group of trans women, the pope and his message of inclusivity are a welcome change” apnews.com/article/vatican-tra

these news clips are for the Catholic LGBTQI who care about this.

this isnt for you, atheists.

Carla Segovia, a transgender woman from Argentina, walks out of the Beata Vergine Immacolata parish church in Torvaianica, Italy, Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023. Pope Francis’ recent gesture of welcome for transgender Catholics has resonated strongly in this working class, seaside town south of Rome, where a community of trans women has found help and hope through a remarkable friendship with the pontiff forged during the darkest times of the pandemic.
