New account, new #introduction!
Hey I'm Jamie! I'm a level 35 gamer, IT engineer, husband and dad from the UK. I'm also one of four members of #TheGamersTavern mod team.
I used to go by EighthLayer throughout the fediverse and beyond, however after I decided to permanently stop streaming and the like, I've switched to using accounts that feel more personal to me rather than a content creator presence.
So more about me... I love gaming! Recently picked up Kingdom Come Delieverance II again and been really enjoying that! I do like a good open-world RPG amongst other genres.
I'm a big Liverpool FC fan! Recently crowned English Premier League champions!
I'm an F1 fan as well! Mainly support the British drivers, but I'm mostly just a general fan of most things F1. I don't have an real team allegience. I just don't like Red Bull Racing, and I'm even from the city they're based in!
Anyways, that's me. Look forward to talking with everyone here as usual!

Panic @ Microsoft due to rise of Linux also in gaming - Steam OS going more & more devices
Microsoft's own handheld is put on hold. They now apparently commence with attempts on tweaking resource heavy (and snooping) Windows 11.
Valve's success and investment in Linux is causing notable changes already across the line.
Valve continue hammering away at the code for SteamOS to get it working nicely on more devices and hardware, with SteamOS 3.7.9 Beta bringing more fixes.

On 'em *other handhelds* apart from Steam Deck? Steam OS installation for Legion Go & Rog Ally
Valve envisioned Linux gaming is expanding towards many new areas, gadgets & platforms
Promo : la ROG Ally d’Asus à 470 € http://dlvr.it/THfTD6 #ROGAlly #Asus
Let's test the waters! You have USD $1,100:
- A Deck with a Ryzen AI HX 370, like ROG Ally or Legion Go
- A laptop with an RTX 4050.
- A Steam Deck OLED with a battery pack and save $400.
Which do you pick? Why?
Honestly, I don't see the point of having a third-party #SteamDeck going for more than $600. Makes no freaking sense.
After that price these compete in the #laptop space, where you can find superior SoC on all sides: #Zen4, #Zen3, #MeteorLake or #LunarLake. These win hands down no contest.
Bazzite 41 is out! We're bringing you:
* A new kernel, `kernel-bazzite`
* More hardware improvements
* Gamescope updates
* Gnome 47 (Plasma folks were already on 6.2)

Splashed out on a new toy. Hoping it will help me work through more of my aching backlog, but of course I had to firstly run my own game on it...
wow, so cool to get a write up of Bazzite on @arstechnica! Glad that it worked out well for Kevin on his vacation. :)

If you own #GrandTheftAuto V on #Steam, please take a moment to let #Rockstar know that their laziness in implementing #Battleye removes your ability to play the game (if you use #Linux) or makes you unable to play with your friends (if you don't).
This is not review bombing. This is genuine criticism of failure.
Those with SteamOS or Bazzite installed, how do you deal with playing games from Lutris and Heroic without going to desktop mode?
