As I get back into the habit of reading via #rss, I just want to thank all the authors that publish complete articles via their feeds. Some authors post only a teaser or summary and require you to click through to their site to read the rest. While that's their choice, I greatly appreciate being able to stay inside my reader, thanks!
@davidaugust I have the heretical view that it's not only possible, but wise to just post one's own videos on one's own blog with #RSS. As long as the videos are shot in a lower resolution, they are much smaller in size. Hundreds of such videos (say ~160MB each, for an hour's video in 360p) can be saved in the tens of GB that come with renting cheap VPS'. Then a javascript video player like clappr embeds the videos on one's personal web pages. A mountain of #enshittification is avoided in this way.
All the "broken glass" we're being dragged over - as is in the OP - results from unwisely trusting 3rd parties to host the videos. My unpopular opinion is: don't use those 3rd parties, period. Be the 1st party, even if your efforts are a little amateur-looking. The key is to quit being greedy with high resolution - which plays into the hands of #AI, btw. This is to make the file sizes more wieldly and self-manageable. No transcoding, etc. Every such simplification matters.

A few days ago, @florianziegler suggested that all of us running blogs with RSS feeds make a small change:
Please add your email address to your RSS feed.
This email address can be used by RSS feed readers to display an Email button next to each feed entry, so folks can reply to the post via email instead of visiting the post on your site to leave a comment.
That seems like a good idea. I found that there was no WordPress plugin that allowed that out of the box, so I built my own. If you’re a blogger and use WordPress, give it a try!

Next step will be for more feed readers to support that issue. I consequently opened an issue for my feed reader of choice, NetNewsWire, to support this, and another for the Android app I use, FocusReader. If you use a different feed reader, don’t hesitate to contact them about it!

J’ai vu passer ça dans mes flux #RSS :
“Warp un terminal dopé à l'IA” :
https://linuxfr.org/users/abriotde/journaux/warp-un-terminal-dope-a-l-ia
RSS is old tech - but it still rules
Here's an old article on why we still use RSS for articles & podcasts on VEX.blue. It’s not just nostalgia, it’s open distribution. No algorithms, just updates.

Have you published an RSS or Atom feed?
Did you know it's possible to style it?
Yup! You can make that crusty old XML viewable in the browser.

I just realized that I have now been using EchoFeed by @robb for a year!
The service that EchoFeed provides is unmatched in my opinion. It allows me to send posts from so many platforms such as my SeerOfSouls.com blog, Vernissage, CrucialTracks and so much more to so many places across the web including to Mastodon, Discord, GitHub and many others.
If you've not given EchoFeed a try, don't hesitate any longer as you can check it out via the link below. You won't be disappointed..

This is great. I'm very interested.
Working on a different RSS idea used to share and update RSS feed collections. My idea is not as general as yours but I would like it to be.
But maybe, implementation first, generalization next.
Not really sure this is the best idea and I don't have time for implementation right now so I ponder.
