It is still early spring here. Two old trees in the foreground growing beside a lake are just beginning to show signs of budding. Other trees growing nearby are covered in bright red buds. The early evening sky is a light but deep blue. The sun, setting behind the treetops across a small cove, is a ball of golden orange, its reflection broken into a long trail of sparkles by the rippling surface of the lake.

Oh no. Dog just encountered a turkey hen in the #backyard and chased her up a tree. While dog barks up said tree, I notice movement in the grass; at least 8 yellow fuzzy chicks, quite young, scattering to the underbrush while mama squalks and scolds. I dragged quickly dog inside, but now the distressed hen is pacing the yard in search of her young. I hope she finds them. I regularly see adults but this is first time seeing #chicks here. #wildlife #springtime
