Bob LeFridge :tinoflag:<p>Stuff is having a little trumpet about it's new look home page. They say "All of these changes are grounded in feedback (from users)" and one of the major "features" they're celebrating is "Larger preview images".</p><p>I didn't ask for that. Did anyone?</p><p>The problem is in most cases they've only changed the code which displays the thumbnail, while the original image remains it's original tiny size.</p><p>As an example, you can make a 200x250 pixel image display as 400x500 pixels. It's four times the size with no new pixels added. It loads fast but it looks awful.</p><p>And that's how they ended up with this sort of pixelated mess. It's hard to imagine that nobody at Stuff has noticed the badly degraded images on their front page.</p><p><a href="https://www.stuff.co.nz/nz-news/360749709/some-news-weve-updated-homepage" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">stuff.co.nz/nz-news/360749709/</span><span class="invisible">some-news-weve-updated-homepage</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/Stuff" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Stuff</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/NZ" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NZ</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/PoorDesign" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PoorDesign</span></a></p>
