So y'all...most of us don't think about #Treasury bills, because most of us are worried about real bills. U.S. Treasuries are debt securities issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to finance the federal government's spending when its revenues are insufficient to cover its expenses.
So, basically, T-bills are short-term U.S. government debt obligations with maturities of one year or less. You buy them at a discount of their face value, and at maturity are paid the face value. They have been considered one of the safest, albeit most conservative method of parking capital.
Most of the 29 Trillion dollar US debt is held by foreign governments and investment banks. The top three; #Japan, #UK and #China hold near or over 1 Trillion (with a T) each of #Tbills.
Guess who Mango has been sending insane Weirdly capitalized Letters to on White House stationary? If you guessed the vast majority of our debt holders, you've been paying attention!
