Angenommen ich möchte einer Person auf Basis eines alten Thin-Clients ein kleines #NAS mit USB-Platten (ja, ich weiß, nicht ideal, nervt nicht) hinstellen, das im besten Fall noch Anwendungen via Docker betreiben kann. Die Person aber hat wenig Lust, sich viel damit (intensiv) befassen zu müssen. Im Idealfall läuft das Teil einfach und Updates/Upgrades des Systems lassen sich möglichst einfach einspielen.
Was für ein OS nehme ich da? #OpenMediaVault? #TrueNAS? Was anderes? 
#Unraid fällt eher raus, weil das Preismodell von denen insane ist.
I've managed to get #OpenMediaVault working on my #RaspberryPi (running #Raspbian Lite) and the performance seems pretty impressive! Despite relying on USB storage for the SSDs.
This is my first time running a #NAS on the Pi, on #OMV, not using #ZFS or #RAID but rather an #Unraid like solution, 'cept, #FOSS called #SnapRAID in combination with #mergerfs (the drives themselves are simply #EXT4).
So far, honestly, so good. I got 2x 1TB SSDs for data, and another 1TB SSD for parity. Don't have a backup for the data themselves atm, but I do have a scheduled backup solution (#RaspiBackup) setup for the OS itself (SD card). It's also got #Timeshift for creating daily snapshots.
I'm not out of the woods yet though, cos after this comes the (somewhat) scary part, deploying #Immich on the Pi lol. I really could just deploy it in my #Proxmox #homelab, and I wouldn't have to worry about system resources or hardware transcoding, etc. but I really wanna experiment this 'everything hosted/contained in 1 Pi' concept.

Hey folks, my cranky old #Synology #NAS is getting full and I'm thinking about upgrades. I don't think I want to buy another commercial NAS and I have an AM5 motherboard doing literally nothing. Sny opinions on #unraid vs #truenas ? (I mostly use for #plex streaming and local backups) but may consider moving my #HomeAssistant install to the box too in the future). #homelab

Nach dem #Bugfix-Release 7.0.1 erhält #Unraid mit v7.1.0-beta.1 ein erstes Funktions-Update.
Mit der neuen Version kann Unraid auch per WLAN betrieben werden, kann Pools unter anderem von TrueNAS importieren und erfährt weitere Verbesserungen beim Management von Virtuellen Maschinen. Als Kernel wird 6.12.19 ausgeliefert.
