Andre NantelGot home after a day spent setting up the lake for our local <a href="https://cosocial.ca/tags/triathlon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#triathlon</a> when my wife warned that she saw 4 idiots in rented Seadoos making fast slalom passes around our buoys.Of note, not only can they mess up our work, but triathletes have been practicing there all day.Unfortunately for these idiots, there is only one Seadoo rental shop here. Took one phone call to hold them in place so that our tall, and sometimes very scary, police Lt can come over and rip their heads off.<a href="https://cosocial.ca/tags/volunteering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#volunteering</a>

Today we took out our three boats from storage and launched them on the lake. Pop quiz: How many pulls does it take to start an engine that has spent a year in storage? Answer: Too fucking much.At least they still work, but just barely. They are more than 25 years old but we finally convinced the boss to buy us a new one. <a href="https://cosocial.ca/tags/win" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#win</a>We also repositioned 72 cinder blocks that will be used as anchors and 30 container boxes with our buoys.<a href="https://cosocial.ca/tags/volunteering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#volunteering</a>

Today my job was to prepare and organize >50 anchoring lines. Hopefully, a couple of hours spent in the workshop will save us many more on the lake.These include a carabiner to link to the cinder block and chain, 2-5 meters of rope, a Danik hook that allows us to ajust line lenght and a small homemade floater to keep the end at the surface until a second boat can come in to attach the big buoy.<a href="https://cosocial.ca/tags/volunteering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#volunteering</a>

Today I fixed a handheld vacuum in which a 18650 cell tab had perished/rusted. I know ideally you'd spot weld but could only access with soldering. All up and running. Also fixed an older DAB radio that had disconnected a power cable internally. Ran home up and down hill 4 times for various tool so got some steps in as well! Using my <a href="https://mastodon.social/@oshwassociation" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@oshwassociation</a> bag as tool tote!

Really good fun. Stand out today was an older woman (80's) whose router had stopped working, she'd sorted the replacement router at home and reconnected all her devices... impressive ... the bit that flummoxed her was she needed to generate a return slip for the old router which Plusnet want back or else its a £50 charge. Turned out her tablet browser didnt like the royal mail website! We got it sorted printed packed and on its way!

Have a community kitchen/cooking <a href="https://beige.party/tags/volunteering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#volunteering</a> commitment from 4:30pm-6:30pm. I'll start responding to some more emails/PMs/phonecalls this evening. I received more correspondence these past 1.5 weeks than usual. It will take me all weekend to get back to folks, one by one.
