#Cowichan Valley residents adapt to life without #PublicTransit as strike enters 4th month.
#PeopleWithDisabilities , #students & #seniors struggle with the lack of options for #transportation in the Cowichan Valley.

#UniforLocal114 & #UniforLocal333BC the union representing 44 drivers, mechanics& cleaners, have been on strike since Feb. 8. They are advocating for wages similar to their counterparts in Victoria, better access to washroom facilities & more consistent breaks. #Workers have since voted against a new contract with their employer, #TransDev & the strike reaches 105 days, there is still no end in sight. As a result of the strike, #transit in the Cowichan Valley has been on hold, interfering with where and how people move through the community. #HandyDart services are still available but only for medical appointments related to renal dialysis, cancer treatment & multiple sclerosis.

For #Marx, the lower phase of #communism marks the /completion /of the
#socialist #revolution. This is the point at which there is no longer a
#capitalist class who may resist #democratic rule, and indeed no #class
divisions at all, hence the point at which the #repressive functions of
the #state are no longer needed and wither away. So whereas #communist or
socialist measures are part of ‘the real movement which abolishes the
present state of things’,38 the lower /phase /of communism is the first
destination. If it is to lead to the lower phase of communism, a
democratic government and a democratised state must make conscious
efforts to get there. That means progressively bringing value production
under #planned, democratic control, for the purposes of meeting #need.
Hence, #value production will recede under a #workers’ state and be
insignificant or non-existent at the point of reaching the lower phase

Its pretty clear that being 'disadvantaged' either from personal issues (such a social education needs) or the structure/community issues of (local) deprivation & poverty, lead to lower levels of employment.

(Employment is not everything, but in our current society, working *can* be the path out of poverty.)

Focussing on 'basic' qualifications in deprived areas looks a good bet for improving work prospects for the most disadvantaged even if this only part of the answer!

Basic qualifications help close the gap between disadvantaged pupils in England and their advantaged peers Share of 18- to 24-year-olds who are NEET (not in education, employment or training) Shows: biggest gap between the disadvantaged & those not, is where people have fewer than 5 GCSEs - 25% of 18-24 years olds in this group are not in Education Employment or Training (NEET) but 35% of the 'disadvantaged' are... for 5+ GCSEs & A-levels or equivalent, the disadvantaged are still more likely to be NEET but by a smaller margin

Fedify: an ActivityPub server framework

Good news! We've officially added #Cloudflare #Workers support to the #Fedify roadmap. We've created a detailed issue to track our implementation plan: https://github.com/fedify-dev/fedify/issues/233.

The effort will be tackled in phases, including compatibility assessment, core adaptations for Workers' environment, KV store and message queue implementations, and finally integration with Cloudflare's ecosystem. This will be a substantial project that we'll break down into several sub-issues.

If you're interested in contributing to any specific aspect of Workers support, please comment on the main issue to coordinate efforts.

Well, it's even worse, you get lower quality and human #workers are going to lose more than a job, but their evolutionary biological development skills.

The brain doesn't learn much from automated recursion trash, in the DNA it's muted if not needed. Better learn by reading a book on biology.

#AI is not an invention, it's a data washing machine to award a bunch of business providers. It's not new either, it's basic IT knowledge to gather intel for military purposes.
