This Is My GlasgowWhile four airships were built, the Admiralty cancelled its contract in 1919, and the station closed in 1922. This Is My GlasgowA rather stylish art deco office building at Inchinnan in Renfrewshire. Designed Gilbert Wallis, it was built in 1929 for the India Tyre Company. les briquesJ’ai enfin remis la main sur ce pdf de l’agence wallonne du Patrimoine qui présente succinctement la ribambelle de jolies constructions bordant le boulevard du Roi Albert à Tournai 🎉 Pour celle-ci, on nous dit qu’il s’agit d’une double habitation moderniste teintée du style paquebot, marquée par l’usage de la brique plate à joint creux. Pas d’année de construction, mais ce fameux style paquebot nous mène dans les années 1930. BarryWe tried a photo project this trip back to Glasgow, to use old photos in their current areas. Here is the art-deco Beresford building/hotel, on Sauchiehall Street, where I misspent much of my youth, queuing for the garage next door too many times. This Is My GlasgowThe gorgeously Art Deco Leyland Motor Company building on Salkeld Street on the Southside of Glasgow. Built in 1933, it is thought to have been designed by James Miller, one of the unsung heroes of Glasgow's architecture. Fatkin in late Art Deco style and constructed in 1938, it was essentially the first luxury flat development in the city. This Is My GlasgowLuma Tower on the southside of Glasgow. Designed by Cornelius Armour in a Steamline Moderne style and built in 1938, it's one of the best preserved Art Deco buildings in the city. This Is My GlasgowThe former Mecca cinema on Balmore Road in the Possil area of Glasgow. Designed by James McKissack in an Art Deco style and built in 1933, it originally seated over 1,500 people. This Is My GlasgowThe B Listed former Leyland Motor Company building on Salkeld Street in Glasgow. Built in 1933, this forgotten Art Deco gem is in a dismal state. In particular, the original curved glass windows in the tower are long gone.
