Well, hello! Charlie and I just woke from our afternoon nap. Actually, Charlie woke up before I did and patiently waited for my eyes to flutter open before excitedly urging me to let him outside.
During our morning walk, we spotted an eastern bluebird (Sialia sialis). There were many along the way, but this particular one stood out—its back feathers were such an intense shade of blue, it almost felt surreal, as if someone had painted it with a brush.
The photographs I share here don’t appear as vivid as they do in my Pixel’s gallery. To make them load more easily, I reduce their size and slightly lower their quality. Take a look:
Just got back from a few days exploring some parks along the Delaware coastline. As the day went on at Bombay Hook, it became a running joke about these Marsh Wrens who were constantly calling but always out of sight. Until this one finally made an appearance.
Heard through the grapevine... or should we say, the grass line! : This striated grassbird (Megalurus palustris) is giving us its best operatic performance, likely sharing the juiciest gossip of the marshse

Double trouble, double charm! : These yellow-vented bulbuls (Pycnonotus goiavier) are clearly contemplating the meaning of bird life, or perhaps just where the next snack is

Following Dan's suggestion that we do the following, here is my brief 10 minute bioblitz in my woods .
Birds heard and recorded by #merlin #merlinApp
I'm trying to learn the difference to identify only from their songs or calls.

When cosplay meets strategy : The square-tailed drongo-cuckoo (Surniculus lugubris) mimics a drongo to sneak its eggs into other nests — style, stealth, and a little evolutionary subterfuge
