Spamming hashtags with vaguely relevant posts that don't say much. From the few accounts I examined, it seems like they're gearing up to push crypto-based, get-rich-quick scams.

Also, the sudden massive volume of "Give me 500 social media posts about how cool citizen science is, in a friendly, positive tone" prompts, from random brand-new accounts all blasting out at the exact same time, is a bit of a giveaway.

Even though the "Hey, spammer! Here's a list for you!" article https://nxdomain.no/~peter/hey_spammer_heres_a_list_for_you.html was only posted in July of that year, I'm fairly confident that today is very close to the 18th birthday of the #greytrapping based #blocklist I host at https://nxdomain.no/~peter/traplist.shtml. Perhaps a restrospective of the "has it been worth the effort?" kind is in order soonish.
