Eoin O'Neill<p>So I update my system's flatpaks only to discover that my flatpak build of visual studio no longer works with my flatpak tool for podman remote.</p><p>I'm at a bit of a loss here. I think I might just layer vscode into my podman image for now to avoid these types of issues, but I would honestly prefer to no have these types of things layered into my system. </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/silverblue" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>silverblue</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/bluebuild" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bluebuild</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.gamedev.place/tags/ostree" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ostree</span></a></p>

thesaigoneer<p>Who says atomic ain't flexible? Herbstluftwm is one of those window managers I haven't tried out yet. So, started building on Ublue's Vauxite (an Xfce image that even Fedora doesn't have yet) and baked in Herbstluftwm (and Polybar, Alacritty etc.) into Vauxite-Saigon, with the BlueBuild toolkit. thesaigoneer<p>If there's anything offsetting in my current Linux life, it must be I've got no updating to do. Arch, Tumbleweed, Gentoo, i love those screens rolling by, knowing I am on the latest and greatest. With my atomic-kde-saigon I'm automatically updated every day, by Fedora and Ublue, in the background, flatpaks included, and only deployed when fully fetched. In the meantime yesterday's image keeps working just fine. You won't even notice. Just get an espresso while you're at it. <br><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/ublue" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ublue</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/bluebuild" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bluebuild</span></a></p>

thesaigoneer<p>Just noticed I currently run the absolute opposites on my two computers: the 🖥️ with Gentoo, X11, the dk window manager, all software compiled, USE flags and all and on the other hand my 💻, with my own BlueBuild spin of KDE, image based, (almost) only flatpaks, fully automated update process, Wayland only. Yin and yang ☯️ at its best 😎<br><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Gentoo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Gentoo</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/bluebuild" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bluebuild</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/LinuxUserSpace" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LinuxUserSpace</span></a></p>
thesaigoneer<p>The UniversalBlue project is out of beta as of today, after 2 years. Since they are closing in on 14 million image pulls I think they've shown how solid it is. BlueBuild enables you to brew your own, and for the last 3 weeks I was running Fedora 40 Kinoite, enhanced by Ublue and optimized by yours truly 😎 Rock solid. <br>Congratulations to all contributors, who made this possible. Fedora Project<p>The world of Fedora Atomic grows with **BlueBuild**, a spin-off of <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@UniversalBlue" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>UniversalBlue</span></a></span> that is a newly independent project!</p><p>If you've been wanting to build or maintain your own custom image of Fedora Atomic Desktops, this may be another way to explore that interest. Instead of editing a containerfile, you work on a recipe that is then transformed into a containerfile to make the process of getting started easier.</p><p>➡️ <a href="https://blue-build.org/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">blue-build.org/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/BlueBuild" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BlueBuild</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/uBlue" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>uBlue</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/FedoraAtomic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FedoraAtomic</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Fedora" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fedora</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> <a href="https://fosstodon.org/tags/OpenSource" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OpenSource</span></a></p>
