Tucker Teague<p>I watched the 2003 <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/documentary" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>documentary</span></a> film, MORNING SUN (Chinese: 八九点钟的太阳; pinyin: Bā Jiǔ Diǎn Zhōng de Tàiyáng). It was directed by Carma Hinton and is about the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/CulturalRevolution" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CulturalRevolution</span></a> in <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/China" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>China</span></a>. It is excellent. You can find it on <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Kanopy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Kanopy</span></a> and maybe elsewhere.</p><p>As one would expect, the film presents a negative picture of the Cultural Revolution, but one also gets the impression of how exciting it all was at some times. I think it would have been hard to resist if I was a youth at that time and place.</p>

Tucker Teague<p>I've been interested in knowing more about the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/TwentiethCentury" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>TwentiethCentury</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/history" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>history</span></a> of <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/China" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>China</span></a>. I find the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ChineseRevolution" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ChineseRevolution</span></a> fascinating, including <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/MaoTseTung" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MaoTseTung</span></a> and the so-called <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/GreatLeapForward" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GreatLeapForward</span></a> or <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/CulturalRevolution" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CulturalRevolution</span></a> and all it did. So far everything I've learned is how awful the Cultural Revolution was, and it seems a true and a fair assessment. But, everything I've found are Western accounts (see the video below) and not Chinese.
