Yesterday I spent many happy hours trying to make space in my garage (workshop) so that I can use it without getting I-can't-find-an-uncluttered-flat-surface rage. The thing to remember is that the journey is just as important as the destination. Especially when I am unlikely to ever reach the destination and if I do, I'll just make it messy again and then have to start the journey once more.

When I finally manage to retire, this will be my life. I am ready for that.

Working on neon for the EAR INN, apparently one of Manhattan's oldest bars dating back to 1817. Their sign is a real ol' rustbucket apparently and is difficult to service. I have never been, but they are thinking of sending me.

There isn't a bunch of money in these repairs, and while its really satisfying to get the repair right without having to remake a section, often, pieces crack back and more work must be done.

That paint gets in the welds and creates leaks- very annoying. Smells lovely when its burning. Whoever worked on it last left some super thin glass at the electrodes for me to weld to... cool, cool.

They really need to be able to take the sign down and refurbish it and then be able to put it back up. It would be more of a cost up front, but would save them in the routine service calls.

I thought I was ordering packs of 2 marker tips but they were actually packs of 5. The patterns are nice an bold again :)

Technician Android

The Department of Justice and eight states on Friday
sued the maker of rent-setting software that critics blame for sending rents soaring in apartment buildings across the country.

The civil lawsuit, filed in federal district court in Greensboro, North Carolina, accuses Texas tech company RealPage of
taking part in an #illegal #price-#fixing scheme to reduce competition among landlords so they can boost prices — and profits.

It also alleges the company took over the market for such price-setting software, effectively #monopolizing it.

“#RealPage has built a business out of frustrating the natural forces of vigorous competition,” said Assistant Attorney General Jonathan Kanter at a news conference Friday with top department officials.

“The time has come to stop this illegal conduct.”
The antitrust lawsuit is the latest
— and most dramatic
— development to follow a 2022 ProPublica investigation that examined RealPage’s role in helping landlords set rent prices across the country,
an arrangement that legal experts said could result in #cartel-like behavior.
Since then, senators have introduced legislation seeking to ban such practices,
tenants have filed dozens of ongoing federal lawsuits,
and San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors moved to bar landlords from using similar algorithms to set rents.

I have one more hole to patch. I thought the one on my knee was going to screw up as I was sewing it but its kinda cool and just looks like I've reinforced them.

Still slightly more work to do on them but how'd they look?

I don't usually like holes in jeans, mostly cus my foot goes through them whilst putting them on So using scraps collected from old part pairs, I'm patching them (both inside and out).

These are women's jeans so I'm glad to have more pocket space xD

Today was #repaircafé Finham. A diverse set of items came in, as usual, however we did get five clocks and four frying pans. The hosting venue gave us the pans and one visitor was responsible for three of the clocks. It's always interesting. #fixing
