#Fabricademy bootcamp 2025
May 19→25

Don't miss this year's bootcamp in Brussels to encounter international fellows in the field of #textile, #engineering and #biology.

I am co-organizing it through the #fablab @GreenFabric and the #fabricademy team (@fabtextiles ).

A great opportunity to test Fabricademy themes and way of working through intense hands-on workshops. It will cover #biomaterials with #mycelium #fungi, #modulardesign, #machineknitting with the #kniterate machine, using the #opensourcehardware machines that we built, #etextile with thermochromic inks.

Don't miss also the #MakerFaire on the following week-end (May 26-27) with the Fabricademy exhibition of final projects and a workshop on #softrobotics.

Boosts are more than welcome!

Can't wait to watch Oppenheimer on a big screen, also because of the always amazing Hoyte van Hoytema (Director of Photography for Oppenheimer, Tenet, Interstellar, Dunkirk etc.) Here're some explorations & renders for a modular product design research experiment I did with him over an intense 3-month period back in 2019 (for his [now seemingly defunkt] "Honeycomb Modular" camera & light rigging system/startup) - super nice experience, even though nothing further came of it at the time...

The challenge was to create an evolution of HvH's original flat hexagon base module, keeping all of its existing mounting features, but also allow it to be assembled to form more complex/architectural macro-structures. The design of my revised module concept allows formation of truncated octahedron macro-modules as base component for then even larger structures...

The module base geometry was generated using my thi.ng libraries, then refined & rendered in Fusion360.

I've discovered a stunning color scheme for printing Kristina's incredible birds and flowers design.

Featuring a translucent blue backdrop with semi-transparent green foliage and vibrant opaque yellow blossoms, this lantern captivates both in daylight and when illuminated by candlelight.

No need for a multi-color printer; this uncomplicated 3D print is easily created:
