The tree may be from the late 1500s when the <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/park?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#park</a> was founded as a hunting area and breeding/research compound, today it's next to the moose enclosure of <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/SababurgZoo?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#SababurgZoo</a>. The tree has a height of around 27 metres and a circumference of more than 6,6 metres (below the canker). The hollow <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/trunk?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#trunk</a> houses a hornets' nest and visitors are asked to be cautious. Bill Gallagher PhotographyRockville ReflectionsRockville Regional Park is one of my regular hiking destinations near home. The park has a range of trails from easy to difficult. Near the end of summer this little pond can dry up into basically large mud puddle. I captured this on a beautiful spring day where the wind was completely absent. This beautiful snow covered tree stood out against the muted evergreens behind them. The snow was unbroken and presents a beautiful white carpet leading back to the tree. G Dan Mitchell“Autumn Black Oak Trees” — Autumn black oak trees in a Yosemite Valley meadow. When we think of fall colors, most often trees like maples or (in the West) aspens come to mind, not oak trees. But in the right light the black oaks of Yosemite Valley can put on quite an autumn color show. While the leaves tend more toward brown than yellow, when backlit they glow and the yellow tones predominate. Armchair EpistemologistThis white oak is the first one I planted. I got it from the park district as well 5 or 6 years ago. It is now about 5' (1.5m) tall. The pumpkins are from our porch. The squirrels were having so much fun I put them here for them to nosh on.
