The port of Sailfish for the OnePlus 6 has the best performance out of all the ports currently imo. I recommend giving it a try.

Finally found a cheap (€ ~50) used #OnePlus6 phone in good condition!
Managed to install #PostmarketOS on it. What a great feeling!
Camera is not working, but I guess that will hopefully be fixed later.
Look forward to explore this further.
Any tips/tricks for a #linuxmobile noob ?
#phosh looks beautiful also!
@neil @postmarketOS "As an aside, I’m not sure if there is a way of locking the bootloader again afterwards, for security."
I'm not sure if you're asking about in theory or in practice, but at least in theory - yes. DivestOS supported locking the bootloader on a #Oneplus6 despite being a custom rom. I haven't heard of anyone managing to do it with pmOS, though.
Just installed #PostmarketOS on a #OnePlus6 I bought for this purpose (writing this toot on it rn ). Been working great except for two things:
- Megapixels is missing some oneplus, enchilada.ini config file and I can't figure out where to get it from...
- Chatty won't start from the app menu. It starts fine from the command line, but that's not really practical
If anyone has any idea, help is welcome
When my laptop spontaneously dies in the middle of a trip, and I still need to finish a presentation, my #OnePlus6 with @postmarketOS comes to the rescue.
A HUGE thanks to everyone working to make #LinuxPhones a thing.
Gnome 48 also brings so many improvements to Gnome Mobile.
Scrolling is just as smooth as it's on Android.
OSK and Touch text selection are better now.
And the cameras have started working on #Oneplus6
Overall, it's getting to where it is starting to feel like a real alternative ️.
My dream of crawling away from the clutches of Big-Tech gets closer.
Just a reminder about the meetup in Christchurch, New Zealand on February 26.
The topic is Linux Mobile and I (Dan) will bring 4 devices:
#OnePlus6
- OS: #postmarketOS | Environment: #plasmamobile
#PinephonePro
- OS: postmarketOS | Environment: #gnomemobile
- OS on SD card: #Mobian | Environment: #phosh
#Pinephone (braveheart + upgraded motherboard)
- OS: #Archlinux | Environment: #sxmo
Pinephone (braveheart)
- OS/Environment: #UbuntuTouch
1/2
Just played around with audiobooks on my #oneplus6 with #postmarketos. There doesn't seem to be a nice Audible client atm., even though it might be possible to make one. Then I learned about https://librivox.org/ which has several thousands Public Domain audiobooks - awesome!
So first I tried Cozy - pretty nice app but it requires downloading things first. Then I figured that the page also has RSS feeds - just like most podcasts. So I tried the Podcasts app:
@cas I am so excited For me only the front camera works after reboot for a few seconds until it crashes and rear camera does not work at all but thats an awesome progress
Should I open a bug report or comment under the MR with details or is it too early for that?

Let's compare! OnePlus 6 (stock Android) vs OnePlus 6T (postmarketOS). Both phones have the exact same dual camera module it seems. The rear camera supported in postmarketOS now is actually the secondary sensor, so I took a picture with the secondary sensor on Android using the "secret" camera debug mode by dialing *#*#1597#*#*.
Updating an charging up my two project devices. #oneplus6 with #postmarketos edge and #dcromapad2 running #ubuntu on #riscv for #fosdem tomorrow!
I‘m really looking forward to meeting some of my heroes of free software, hardware (eg yuning liang) as well as the free social web (@Gargron)
Feel free to approach me. I‘ll be wearing a blue led nametag with my handle.
@rmader I have been on #postmarketos Edge on my #oneplus6 and upgraded it regularly, most recently today. Does that mean it is now on #systemd or how can I check?
Let me share some progress on the "Pushup Sessions" app. I have put it onto my OnePlus 6 and started testing and making necessary adjustments. Most things work and the workouts and training plans are safely stored in a sqlite database. Notifications for sessions is not implemented and translations are not set up yet. There is (optional) sound though and the proximity sensor is used, so I don't have to touch the screen with the nose. Here's a demo:
@Gigoince
Je teste actuellement #PostmarketOS sur un smartphone #oneplus6 c'est bluffant !
Les applis manquantes sous Linux #Alpine peuvent être installées avec #Wayland
