Ele Willoughby, PhD<p>but her largest contribution was to the origin &amp; evolution of early mammals. She was 1st woman to serve on the executive of the International Union of Geological Sciences &amp; a trailblazer in <a href="https://spore.social/tags/palaeontology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>palaeontology</span></a>.</p><p>In ’39, when she was 14, Germany invaded Poland &amp; occupied Poland until the end of WWII in ’45. Non-Germans were barred from higher education, on pain of death. The Polish resistance organized a clandestine network of instruction. Her family helped hide 2 Jewish girls during occupation. 🧵2/</p>
