Shonky Electronics!<p>Guess what I’m up to this weekend?<br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/rc2014" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rc2014</span></a></p>
Shonky Electronics!<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@diyelectromusic" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>diyelectromusic</span></a></span> I plan to hookup a STM32F446 to my <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/rc2014" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rc2014</span></a> once here and built. I wrote a driver for monochrome 800x600 a few years back, and want to put it to use</p>
diyelectromusic<p>Right, no idea how long this will last, but fingers crossed for what could be a pretty neat, cheap, SVGA display from overseas...</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/rc2014" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rc2014</span></a></p>
RC2014<p>Now that I am pretty much all moved in to <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/RC2014Towers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RC2014Towers</span></a> I have spent some time this evening doing some of the more aesthetic stuff. Most of the assembled <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/RC2014" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RC2014</span></a> computers are now on display and the <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Z80" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Z80</span></a> artwork I picked up last weekend has been hung.</p><p>(A detailed description of most of those machines can be found here <a href="https://rc2014.co.uk/limited-edition-and-custom-rc2014/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">rc2014.co.uk/limited-edition-a</span><span class="invisible">nd-custom-rc2014/</span></a>)</p>

A super computer with that many Z80 processors is going to be pretty super!</p>
Shonky Electronics!<p>Currently on the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/rc2014" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rc2014</span></a> checkout page, trying to figure out what I’d do with one. </p><p>Problem is, I like building kits more than actually using them</p>
diyelectromusic<p>Always fun when you build a new computer and it just works when you turn it on...</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/RC2014" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RC2014</span></a></p>
Ben A L Jemmett<p>Going live in an hour with part 6 of my RC2014 Pro Pride kit build; I'm planning to work on the VGA terminal board this evening. Join me from 2130 BST at <a href="https://twitch.tv/baljemmett" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">twitch.tv/baljemmett</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> and hopefully in the meantime I'll have found my USB OTG pigtail so I can plug a keyboard into it for testing!</p><p>(Yes, it's more <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/SelfPromo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SelfPromo</span></a>, sorry folks. I realised I'd been accidentally announcing the last few instalments as quiet-public so they weren't showing up in the <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/RC2014" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RC2014</span></a> hashtag, whoopsy.)</p>

Dean<p>Is emulating an old processor <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/retro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retro</span></a> enough? Quazar<p>🚨 New Release - SAA1099P Soundchip Interface for RC2014 and compatibles.</p><p>The SAM Coupe has been my computer of choice for the last 32 years so bringing its sound chip, the Philips SAA1099P, over to the RC2014 and compatible ecosystem is a no brainer, especially following a request asking if it was possible, so here it is!</p><p>The SAA1099P can considered to be similar to using two AY sound chips: It provides 6 sound generators (31Hz to 7.81KHz). 2 noise generators and 2 envelope controllers. Separate volume for left and right volumes of each channel. On the interface the I/O port used can be selected with jumpers to avoid clashes with other hardware you have, as well as for using multiple cards in the same system. </p><p>More information / purchase: <br><a href="https://2014.samcoupe.com" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">2014.samcoupe.com</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p>In the video the music playing is from the 'Lyra 3' megademo on the SAM Coupe, by the legendary chiptune musician Ziutek from the E.S.I. demogroup.</p><p><a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/soundchip" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>soundchip</span></a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/chiptune" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>chiptune</span></a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/rc2014" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rc2014</span></a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/synth" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>synth</span></a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>electronics</span></a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/indiedev" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>indiedev</span></a> <a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/tags/samcoupe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>samcoupe</span></a></p>
Marcos<p>Got the base <a href="https://clacks.link/tags/RC2014" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RC2014</span></a> up and running, and now I'm trying to remember how to program in <a href="https://clacks.link/tags/BASIC" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BASIC</span></a>. 🙂 And search engines are no help for resources. Anybody have any interesting places you go for BASIC programs and help writing programs?</p>
NottheBoson<p>Still no closer to figuring out exactly why my <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/rc2014" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rc2014</span></a> isn't working, all the solder joints seem to be ok as far as I can see. I did manage to get it to boot briefly a couple of times so obviously the jumpers are correct and the chips themselves are ok. Beginning to think I've fried a pad somewhere so have poor connection but can't see the damage.</p>
Olly 👾<p>Single-Board Z80 Computer draws Inspiration from Picasso.</p><p>Picasso and the Z80 CPU are not two things we often think about at the same time. One is a renowned artist born in the 19th century, the other, a popular CPU that helped launch the microcomputer movement. And yet, the latter has come to inspire a computer based on the former.</p><p><a href="https://concretedog.blogspot.com/2025/04/building-beautiful-things-rc2014-mini.html" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">concretedog.blogspot.com/2025/</span><span class="invisible">04/building-beautiful-things-rc2014-mini.html</span></a></p><p><a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/rc2014" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rc2014</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/mini" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mini</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/z80" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>z80</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/retrocomputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrocomputing</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/engineer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>engineer</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/artist" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>artist</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/media" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>media</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/tech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tech</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/art" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>art</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/news" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>news</span></a></p>
