Algorithmic Futures Policy LabThis afternoon at Water Operations for Uncertain Futures 2023 <a href="https://fediverse.au/tags/AFPLwouf23" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#AFPLwouf23</a>, we've taken on the role of various stakeholders and mapped out how we might carry out the <a href="https://fediverse.au/tags/water" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#water</a> concept pitches from initiation to adaptation. The takeaways? Corporations gather all that money and pass it off to 3rd parties, increasing inequality and draining communities of their wealth and income.Cooperatives work to serve the community, because they are owned by the community. Corporations are incentivized to <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/externalize" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#externalize</a> costs for the sake of <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/shareholders" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#shareholders</a>, whether that means <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/gouging" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#gouging</a> customers, <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/underpaying" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#underpaying</a> workers, or damaging the <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/environment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#environment</a>.Cooperatives are <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/robust" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#robust</a> to economic disruptions, because funds are community-sourced and profit is not the sole motive for their existence.
