Generic Person<p>It appears that I have a spare <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/Linksys" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Linksys</span></a> E2500 v1 <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/router" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>router</span></a> with <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/firmware" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>firmware</span></a> source code available that can build a full firmware distribution. I'm going to be experimenting with this.</p><p>The router in question runs <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/FreshTomato" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FreshTomato</span></a> currently, but I want to experiment with modifying the stock firmware cause why not :P</p><p>I'm actually looking into the same thing with a Linksys EA7500 v3, which is more challenging and appropriate given that its source doesn't seem like it'll produce a full binary, so maybe I think I'd have to patch any changes into the available binary rather than just build my own.</p><p>To start, we'll upgrade <a href="https://social.linux.pizza/tags/libid3tag" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>libid3tag</span></a> on these routers in their stock firmware. Then we'll upgrade more things. I'd like to start with userland binaries and libraries and then move gradually deeper into the system stuff. I don't think I'd get to the kernel though.</p>
