Interesting mathematical thoughts for all those #sashiko #embroidery fans out there
I’m quite interested to see that book when it comes out!
It looks like my weird hybrid #bookbinding mostly worked.
I think once the journal is full, I might have to rebind it slightly better, but since I don't know what thickness it will have yet, etc, I'll leave it like this now. I might want to make the spine somewhat stiffer. I'll see what happens! The main thing is that it should hold together for my (hopefully) upcoming trip.
#sashiko
A book cover in progress, in the form of #sashiko #embroidery on #shibori tie dyed cotton. I tried to let the dyed pattern of the fabric define which sashiko pattern to use.
I ironed on stabilizer and then used some kind of "milk glue" to attach the fabric to the book board for the first time. So far, the glue seems very promising.
I'm trying to decide what kind of bookbinding technique to use. I want the spine to partially expose the colorful papers I'm going to use within the book.

Onwards with the old #samue. It is always a wonder how liquid and heavy the fabrics get when stitched together with a flat pattern. In this case, it also turned very rough because I did not pull any of the threads flat. I expect to wash the jacket often, so this time I am giving the threads a lot of room to shrink without puckering the fabric.
Perhaps I can finish this part of the stitching on the weekend.
Here's the whole thing. It's 2 m by 1.5 m.
It's based on where we live, in Matosinhos, Porto.
The main theme is the massive public sculpture 'She Changes' by Janet Echelman. Other design aspects are waves, sky, night, clouds, moon, mist.
At the moment I'm calling it 'Because She Changes'.
I've been quiet but busily working on this sahiko quilt.
I'm yet to get good images, but here's where I am...
Yesterday and today I designed the final part, an abstracted mist pattern. We get a LOT of mist here.
I stitched it in vintage embroidery silk.
And with that, the front piece is DONE!
Sashiko means little stabs, and after all that stitching, my fingers know why.
Yay! I finished my #patchwork #sashiko sampler pillow!
A better life for old jeans and old curtains than the dumpster.
Yesterday, I started putting my #patchwork #sashiko pillowcase together.
Still a ways to go, but happy to finally be progressing.
I'm an utter beginner at patchwork and quilting, and I'm improvising, so I hope I got all the measurements right.
This pair of jeans I patched a few months ago using #sashiko has ripped again just above the previous patch. I guess that was the next weakest part of the fabric! I fancy using the machine to patch it this time.
