Maggie Maybe<p>I appreciate this article so much because just yesterday I was complaining to somebody about how I don’t understand the point of the shingles vaccine if the varicella zoster virus is already in me how does adding a little bit more help me?</p><p>But then this paragraph made it make sense. Curious Magpie<p>After a friend's mom (in her 80s) ended up in urgent care because she was afraid she had contracted <a href="https://beige.party/tags/measles" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>measles</span></a> (it ended up being <a href="https://beige.party/tags/shingles" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>shingles</span></a>) I decided to get the vaccine for myself.</p><p>Except ... my doctor wouldn't approve it until I had a titer test to determine if I had immunity.</p><p>Got the results back today and I have immunity for both <a href="https://beige.party/tags/mumps" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mumps</span></a> and <a href="https://beige.party/tags/rubella" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rubella</span></a> (I sort of mostly remember having them) but no immunity for measles.</p><p>I am both kind of tired of getting jabbed and grateful that there are jab-worthy vaccinations still available.</p>
