My compost pile has moved up to “warm”, though is not showing as “active” or “hot” yet. I’ll see what it’s like after I empty the entire fridge’s worth of food that went without power for nearly five days. Maybe that’ll push it up to hot? It's sad to have to fence all the gardens to keep the effing deer out, but it does give the birds a lot of perch options. Which gives me more photo ops, I suppose.

@Cdespinosa i was in a grocery store in downtown santa cruz shopping with two girls i’d just met at UCSC.
after the quake they were both bleeding badly after falling in brocken glass. i flagged down a ride and got them both to the ER just as the deceased were arriving. it was a long and scary day.
but one of the two girls is sitting next to me now. it’s odd to know that this tragic day played such a pivotal role in something so amazing in my life.

When someone you briefly knew a long time ago includes you on a Happy New Year email along with 290 other people, none of whom you know.
When many of them feel compelled to Reply-to-all with cheery cookie cutter platitudes.
And then when you discover that the locked-down corporate email solution you have been forced to adopt has an “Ignore conversation” feature 
Even if it only works in the iOS version & not the desktop macOS app 
Made a friend on my walk this morning. Still buzzing from the experience. 
A really bold little soul, came back several times. Hence how I actually managed to get out my camera and take a picture.
One of the #silverlinings of my #LongCovid recovery journey is I because I have to go slow and stop and rest alot on my walks it means I notice so much more, and today got noticed too
