For #findsfriday we have various #potterymarks from the late #middleages
These exciting pottery fragments, which show a wide variety of potter's marks and #stamps, were discovered during one of our #excavations in 2023. They are mainly applied to the rims of grey #earthenware pots and can provide clues as to the #manufacturer of the #vessels
The #pottery marks are incised X-shaped, V-shaped, cross-shaped, crest-shaped or with parallel notches.

A while back, I signed up for the Ukrposhta (Ukraine post office) mailing list for commemorative stamps and other philatelic stuff. Essentially, you pay a small fee to be on the list and receive notification of stuff as it becomes available.

I've only bought a couple of items but the second (received today) is a set of all of the stamps issued in 2022 (the all-out war started in February of that year). It includes the famous "Russian warship, go fuck yourself" stamps and the subsequent issue when the Moskva Russian flagship was sunk.

@linguistgoneforeign These pictures take me back to my childhood in the 1980s. My father worked for an international magazine and would get mail from all over the world. He would bring the envelopes home to me. I loved all the different colors and designs, seeing a country's name in its own alphabet. My favorites at the time were stamps that were identical but in different colors for different denominations.

After having to tackle The Starry, Starry Night puzzle in a methodical and structured way, I opted for the opposite approach for my next jigsaw. This one was very itsy bitsy and a bit all over the place. I have done this one before - it was one of my first jigsaws during lockdown when I first started puzzling. A lot of fun. Love the 3d kōwhai New Zealand stamp (near the centre) but there were plenty of other stamps to like as well.

#BettyWhite now has her own #ForeverStamp from the #USPS , thanks to Boston-area artist #DaleStephanos .

It took him about a year to design and complete. At the request of Betty's family, he included references to her work championing the cause of #AmimalRights , the most obvious symbol being the pawprint earring.

Stephanos' image of Betty brilliantly captures her sense of mischief and fun, by perfectly portraying her joyful smile and sparkling eyes.

The Great Stamps War of 1963 saw Tesco in the green corner with their Green Shield Stamps and Priceright in the pink corner with their American-financed pink stamps. Sainsbury’s didn’t support any colour - they were anti-stamp. It was all to do with customer loyalty and the thrill of receiving a “free” gift.
