Today is the the big day. Notty (AKA Not My Cat) cat passed her vet checkup yesterday with flying colors, got her shots, and will be moving from our shop-office outbuilding into the guest bedroom of our house while she and her new "sister" Susy get to know each other and work things out through the door. I've been carrying scents back and forth for a month which I hope will ease the transition. Fingers crossed. (more info in alt text)

"Not My Cat," AKA Notty cat, who is now my cat, a gray tabby shorthair with touches of brown, sitting on my lap, her head twisted back to look at something above her. She was a neighborhood who came around for months, craving attention and food, and trying to get inside any open door. Unable to locate an owner, we took her inside out shop building during a recent cold snap and decided to adopt here. But we couldn't bring her inside with our other cat without a health check and shots which took a month to schedule with our busy small town vets.
Susy the Floof, our long-time rescue cat, a gray and white longhair with touches of tabby stripes, seen here laying on her side. She had a rough life outside, and is very timid and easily startled, but has seen Notty through our back door when we were feeding Notty outside, and showed surprising curiosity and lack of fear. Hope it goes well.

Not My Cat with her favorite toy. Two nights ago, after play time I collapsed the telescoping pole, rolled up the string, palmed the bird, and hid it on top of a bookcase behind a finger print kit on display there (my wife writes mystery). But by morning, she had found a way up, closed the lid on the kit, and was dragging the toy, string trailing, all over the building! This cat is trouble...

Time for your daily dose of Not My Cat. She's fine, and has all but taken over my wife's office. Still weeks till we can get her into a vet for tests and get shots. But she's doing fine in the outbuilding, and in many ways, it's idea. Two floors to wander. Stairs to run up and down. Fantastic views from various windows, including her favorite spot to sleep in the upstairs front window. But unfortunately, people are not 24/7 there, and that is Bad.
