The <a href="https://beige.party/tags/rivers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rivers</span></a> and their <a href="https://beige.party/tags/tributaries" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tributaries</span></a> have been deeply impacted by land use &amp; <a href="https://beige.party/tags/ClimateChange" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ClimateChange</span></a>. Unlike the neighbouring Quw’utsun (Cowichan) watershed, the Xwulqw’selu &amp; Chemainus rivers have no lake to store water, which leaves them more vulnerable to drought &amp; dangerously low flows.</p><p>Learn more about the Twinned Watersheds Project:<br><a href="https://cowichanwatershedboard.ca/twinned-watershed" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">cowichanwatershedboard.ca/twin</span><span class="invisible">ned-watershed</span></a></p><p><a href="https://beige.party/tags/BCWatersheds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BCWatersheds</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/WaterIsLife" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WaterIsLife</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/PacificNorthwest" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PacificNorthwest</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/BritishColumbia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BritishColumbia</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/Cascadia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Cascadia</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/PNW" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PNW</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/ecosystems" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ecosystems</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/ProtectWatersheds" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ProtectWatersheds</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/Nature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Nature</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/Streamkeepers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Streamkeepers</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/WaterMonitoring" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WaterMonitoring</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/WaterHealth" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WaterHealth</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/Environmental" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Environmental</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/WaterfallWednesday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WaterfallWednesday</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/Ecology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Ecology</span></a> <a href="https://beige.party/tags/hydrology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hydrology</span></a></p>

Rachel Siegel<p>“Across the country, people are working to transform and replenish the <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/landscape" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>landscape</span></a>—creating opportunities to connect with <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Nature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Nature</span></a> and improving safety around <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/tributaries" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tributaries</span></a>. In some ways, we are attempting to turn back the hand of time. We want to give nature a chance to be itself again. When we remove a dam, or take out other barriers along a <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/waterway" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>waterway</span></a>, we give nature a chance to revert to its true form, to become vibrant and rejuvenated.”</p><p>(More)</p>
